#TheReadingQuest TBR

I’m actually leaving for a short vacation tonight, so I’m quickly scrambling to put together my #TheReadingQuest TBR. For more information on this challenge, you can read my sign-up post here! There’s still 2 days left if you want to sign up.

The beautiful and glorious CW of Read, Think, Ponder not only drew all the character art that went into the challenge, she also drew me my own character. She’s wearing black and gold with plenty of flowers to match my blog aesthetics, I am crying over how perfect she is!

My character, despite appearing different (because hey, being the creator of this reading challenge comes with some perks ;)), will be following the MAGE path. Here is my intended TBR.

Note: I’m just doing this for fun, as it’s my own challenge I won’t be entering to win any of the prizes 😀

First Book in A Series:

32758901

All Systems Red by Martha Wells: I’ve been really into reading non-fiction about space in the past week, so I’m itching to read some space-faring sci-fi. All Systems Red is the first of a series of novella published by Tor. It’s set in a distant future where planetary missions are controlled by a mass corporate entity and performed by security androids. One such android manages to defy its module and contemplate its own identity. I can’t wait to learn more about the Murderbot.

A Book Inspired by Mythology

5983694

Where The Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin: I listened to one of the companion novels of this series via audiobook earlier on this year and fell in love with Grace Lin’s enchanting world. This is a series that draws on Chinese folklore and mythology to create a tale where the power of stories is the greatest force of all. Within this book, we’re promised tales of the Old Man of the Moon and the Jade Dragon. I know it will be magical.

A Book Set in A Different World

34643773

Under the Pendulum Sun by Jeannette Ng: I’ve been obsessed with this book ever since its stunning cover was unveiled. In this alternate timeline, Britain ‘discovered’ the Faelands during the European Colonial period – a separate dimension where the sun moves in a pendulum motion, and the land is populated by beautiful and deadly beings. We follow an English missionary as she travels into Arcadia to find her brother.

A Book With Magic

33395234

Beasts Made of Night by Tochi Onyebuchi: I got the eARC of this book a couple of months ago, and have been itching to start it. Set in a world where sins manifest as shadow beasts and can be absorbed by impoverished sin-eaters, this Nigerian-inspired fantasy will examine issues of class differences. The world building sounds incredibly unique and I can’t wait to begin.

Pages: 304 – 30 HP points

One Word Title

29237211

Saga Volume 7 by Brian Vaughan and Fiona Staples: I started this graphic novel series earlier on this week and have become absolutely obsessed with it. There’s starcrossed lovers, an interplanetary war, the heartbreaking pursuit for peace, and families – both biological and made. I adore it so much, but it’s already broken my heart about a gazillion times within the first 6 volumes.

Pages: 152 – 7.5 HP points

I’m taking it pretty easy with my quest because I know this month will be a very busy one in my real life, filled with work conferences and personal travels. Best of luck to everyone who’s joining in on the challenge. Let me know if you’ve read any of the books above and what you thought of them!

  4. I love how your character looks!! (I mean, all of the graphics are amazing, but your character is super pretty!!!) I wish I had enough time to participate in this… sadly with school starting up I can’t do it. Next time. I will definitely join in the next read-a-thon!!

  5. This is going to be my first read-a-thon ever. I’m excited to get started! I don’t have my TBR set yet, because I’m useless. I’m on the Mage path too, and looking for suggestions, particularly for mythology – Where the Mountains Meet the Moon sounds really interesting.

    Enjoy your vacation 🙂

  6. So many good books in this TBR, Aentee! The cover of UNDER THE PENDULUM SUN is so beautiful. I requested that on Netgalley but got rejected (*tiny violin plays in the background*) but I hope you enjoy/are enjoying it. Good luck with the TBR.
