Midnight Designs: The Star-Touched Queen Phone Wallpapers

You might have seen me on twitter rambling about how I can’t stop making graphics of The Star-Touched Queen. The imageries this book conjured was so vivid, I could not help but attempt to capture it – even though I don’t think I did it justice at all. If you’re a fan of opulent, transcendent, mythic tales, you should definitely check this book out ASAP.

I, not the starlight, shaped my decision.

This was the first of the wallpapers I made, even before I have read the book. It strongly resonated with me, I love books that challenge the concept of destiny. I had also learned how to make starry backdrops that morning so I went a little overboard! I kept the colours sombre and black, even for the flowers – as Maya is the bride of death and destruction, after all 😉

My kingdom needs a queen. It needs someone with fury in her heart and shadows in her smile. It needs someone restless and clever. It needs you.

What a proposal! I love that Maya’s initially fascination with Amar wasn’t a product of insta-love but due to her desire to be free. She’s such a Slytherin and I approve completely.

I made two versions of this particular quote and couldn’t decide which to go with. The first is again, due to my spamming of starry skies, I also added constellations of several kinds, even to the flourishes in the text – to call back on Maya’s horoscope. The second version was made to recall Amar’s hall, dark and mysterious, brimming with both life and death.

I know your soul. Everything else is ornament.

Again, Amar knocks it out of the park with his declarations. For this particular wallpaper, I went with a sari-inspired theme, all rich jeweled tones and intricate patterns. The image is my interpretation of the cover-art (parts of which I totally used, please don’t sue me).

Come with me and you shall be an empress with the moon for your throne and constellations to wear in your hair. Come with me and I promise you that we will always be equals.

Yes, yet ANOTHER Amar quotes. I’m going to need Roshani Chokshi to write my wedding vows. I couldn’t fit the quote into the actual graphics without it looking too busy, so you’ll have to stick with the visual interpretation instead: with the moon, the constellations, the star-touched queen. I also included peacocks because national bird of India and prettiness.

I think I have FINALLY managed to get this book out of my system. Although I still want to make a wallpaper for Kamala, truth be told. Maybe for the next book (please let Kamala be there!)

Have you read this book? Do you love it as much as I do?

    1. Thanks so much for your kind words! I never formally learned graphics design or art of any kind – it’s just a hobby turned obsession haha!

      1. I did when I first started out years ago, but you sorta find your own way after a while. I still search up tutorials to learn new techniques though ☺️
