Hogwarts School Of Blogcraft and Bookistry: Divination

BBcreativity-Divination

Hello class,

This is the third class in our BBCreativityProject’s Hogwarts School of Blogcraft and Bookistry series.

Although people like Miss Granger may try to dismiss my classes as hodge podge instead of real magic – I’ll prove disbelievers wrong with these set of predictions today.

As 2016 quickly approaches, one of the questions on everyone’s mind is ‘Which books should I preorder?’. In today’s class, we’ll look at forecasting the future bestsellers that you should add to your shopping cart promptly!

The new year also brings a new crop of bloggers. Our class will tell you the rising stars you should follow as soon as possible!

First off, we’ll look at the promising new titles – we promise they’ll be knocking over NYT charts and take Goodreads by storm.

divination-1

As we gaze upon the stars and contemplate their patterns, we foresee…

Tuzi: A Court of Mist and Fury, Tiger’s Dream, The Great Hunt, The Winner’s Kiss, TOG #5, TOG #6, Truthwitch, Twilight of the Gods (AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO LOVES S. J. MAAS?)

Claire:  Lady Midnight, Passenger, A Gathering of Shadows, The Rose and the Dagger, Blackhearts.

Angel:  Passenger, The Leaving Season, This Is Where The World Ends.

Tiffany:  Passenger, ACOMAF, Magnus Chase series, The Winner’s Kiss, Blackhearts.

Shanelle: I haven’t been keeping an eye on upcoming releases, but I was able to borrow an ARC of Truthwitch, and from the way hype has been building, I think it will be a bestseller.

Nori:  The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye, The Mirror King by Jodi Meadows, Truthwitch by Susan Dennard, Passenger by Alexandra Bracken, and Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard.

Aentee: I’ve been reading The Girl From Everywhere by Heidi Heilig and enjoying the interdimensional and time travel aspect of it – I think these are concepts that will take over the YA literature in the next years. I also have high hopes for Assassin’s Heart just based on the name alone. Truthwitch will obviously be a winner, with the amount of hype and clever marketing strategy! I am most excited for A Gathering Of Shadows, though!

Aila: Burning Glass (Kathryn Purdie), Rebel of the Sands (Alwynn Hamilton), The Shadow Queen (CJ Redwine).

Aimee:  Books I believe would be bestsellers: Winter, November 9, Passenger, Truthwitch, Glass Sword, Morning Star, Starflight, Lady Midnight, The Raven King, Riders.
Books I hope will be bestsellers: The Lies About Truth (Courtney Stevens), Warrior Witch (Danielle Jensen), Long Way Down (KB Ritchie)

Joey: Truthwitch (Dennard), Glass Sword (Aveyard), Calamity (Sanderson), Passenger (Bracken), The Last Star (Yancey), A Gathering of Shadows (Schwab), Empire of
Crows (Bardugo) (Professor’s Note: I think Joey is getting creative with that last one).

If that was too much text, here’s a handy dandy visual guide!

Divination-3

It seems many of us agree on Truthwith, Passenger, Lady Midnight, and anything penned by Sarah J Maas will spin the YA world off-axis. I am just personally gleeful that fantasy is having such a huge year in 2016! Bring on magic and mayhem!!

Lastly, we’ll gaze into our crystal ball and tell you all about the bloggers you should follow ASAP!

divination-2

Tuzi:  Lucie at Tea, Books and Fun started blogging in June, and has such a repertoire of reviews as well as tags, recaps, TTTs, and WOWs.

Claire:  Kelly at Dancing Through The Pages. (Professor’s Note: I agree! Both Kelly and her post are vivacious and fun).

Tiffany:  Fiona at A Bookish Femme.

Shanelle: Chri technically isn’t a newbie, since she was co-blogging with Megan (Adrift on Vulcan, which is a blog you should be checking out too because her theme is just hands down AMAZING and Meg is just awesome) before they separated. Now, Chri is blogging at Aerou, and she even started the coolest feature where she does typography, and her first post is for Vicious by V.E. Schwab. She also does some really nice photography and some very eloquent reviews.
(Professor’s Note: Omg, this blog is BEAUTIFUL, thanks Shanelle!)

Nori: I actually just wrote up a post featuring a TON of new book bloggers that you should follow! Here’s the link.

Aentee: Paloma of Pages and Pineapple stands out despite being a couple of months old thanks to her bold yet minimalistic aesthetics & insightful reviews. Sarah of Kerosene Lit is a wonderful human being who runs a gorgeous blog, I love that she reviews lesser known titles! Jenna of Reading With Jenna has razor sharp insight in all her reviews, and she’s one of my favourite people. Jesse of Books at Dawn is someone I can always rely on for book recommendations due to our similar tastes (though you need to lay off my book boyfriends, Jesse!).

Aila: Kit at Let The Pages Reign.

Aimee: Maan of Pigeon Reads literally just started blogging this October! I love how eager she is to learn and be a part of this awesome community.

Joey: Jenna hasn’t even been in the blogosphere for half-a-year but exhales reviews with the best of them and is a new co-blogging addition to Happy Indulgence Books.

  1. Omg you guys are the sweetest. You’re one of my favourite people too, Professor (just don’t make me read tea leaves!) *snuggles* And I’m so honoured to be Joey-approved. He’s the harshest critic XD And I honestly tell Jesse the same thing in every one of his posts: back of my men!

Hehe, as a contemporary lover, The Love That Split The World Apart catches my eye first. But I’m so excited for Passenger and Truthwitch, along with Lady Midnight and all the SJMaas, of course. 2016 is going to be so awesome!

I am going to SO BROKE in 2016, way too many good fantasy releases! Publishing gods please have mercy!

    1. Shockingly I still haven’t read most of the TMI series so I miss out on the Lady Midnight hype, but I can’t wait for Truthwitch!

  2. “Passenger” sounds like it’s going to be huge, but I can’t figure out if it’s just another case of TONS of promo and TONS of hype over what might be a dud? Because I haven’t actually heard any rave reviews about it, just people saying “Oh, it was good” and moving on.

I expect the sequel to Six of Crows will be a huge success (and the title was revealed today, so now I’m even more excited for next fall!)

    1. I mainly want Passenger because of the cover and words about the time travel and dimension travel concept, otherwise I know VERY LITTLE about it. Oops.
I can’t wait for the sequel of Six of Crows, that and A Gathering Of Shadows is my top wanted at the moment!

  3. I’m loving these posts!! And so exciting to be thinking about all the 2016 books. I’ve got such a massive shelf of them on Goodreads. Although where are all the contemporaries?? WHERE’S MY CONTEMPORARY HYPE? I guess I’ll just have to write a post on contemporaries I’m excited for in 2016 🙂
